Vivo Apex

Vivo Apex

Vivo have released their new phone the Vivo Apex.  We must say we are impressed by this amazing display.
So you must be thinking, yes there’s this big full screen display, but where’s my selfie camera? Well Vivo have installed a “Pop Up” Camera that comes out the top of your phone, and pops back in. This can pop out in just 0.8 seconds, so it isn’t really an inconvenience having to constantly pop it in and out.  It also pops out automatically, meaning as soon as you open your selfie cam on the camera app, it pops straight out. Now we have our opinions on this, Pro’s and Cons.

Our Opinion

Now the Pro’s are fairly obvious, this full screen display which is amazing for looking at, and watching content on. Especially on the “Ultra-Bright” OLED display.
The cons would be, well how easy is the camera going to break? We’ve been wondering at Imzi what if it gets Jammed and can’t go back in? or what if you drop it and it snaps? There’s problems that we are concerned about, but we will just have to wait for the public release to find out for sure.
Some other high-Tec features include the under the display fingerprint scanner. This has a light-sensor underneath the display which will momentarily light up your finger whilst it scans your prints. At the moment it’s a little slower than the regular fingerprint scanner, but we think we’re looking at the future here. This also allows for secondary unlock, so for example if you and your spouse or work colleague share a phone, you can double lock your device. Meaning you will need to place both fingers on your display.
For now we will have to wait for more details, and specs to be confirmed but have a look for yourself at the Vivo Apex.

Our Opinion

You may have seen by now that the tech giant Samsung have released their newest line up in the galaxy series.
Yes this may look the same as the previous generation on the outside but lets talk about whats changed.

Whats changed?

For starters we have the small but mighty changes such as the moving of the fingerprint scanner (Thank you Samsung) Samsung owners may be aware that they were advised to clean they're lenses last year as you may miss the finger print scanner, and smudge the lens. It took everyone complaining to quickly reassure Samsung to put the scanner underneath the lens instead of by its side.

We also have the biggest change of the smartphone which is the Camera. The worlds first smartphone camera that can change aperture. So for those who may not know, changing apertures for your lens lets a certain amount of light into camera. for example for low light photo's you would change to the f/1.5 setting allowing you to get great photo's in the dark. But for well lit area's opting for the higher f/2.4. The camera also has a super slo-mo setting. This allows up to 900fps at 720p, also the first phone to do anything close to this. They also have a 240fps at 1080p, competing with the iPhone X that was the first to do this a few months back on it's release.

The S9 also includes the new and powerful Exynos 9810 chip with a 4GB of RAM or a 6GB RAM for the S9+. Of course Samsung still have the wonderful displays for their phones which is always nice to look at. Take a look at the new S9 yourself!

The OnePlus6 - Specs and Opinions.

The OnePlus6

The long awaited OnePlus6 is finally here. With OnePlus teasing pictures, and possible features on Twitter for the past weeks, we can finally see it in all its glory.
As you may notice just from looking at the phone, OnePlus has gone with the Notch design which is very much a 2018 thing to do. Trying to get rid of those bezels as much as possible. One thing that OnePlus are offering along side the bezel look, is to... well remove it. You can go into your setting and optionally black out the top of your display to hide that pesky notch. They've also opted to keep their fingerprint scanner and move it on to the back.  The body is made from all glass front and back, but with an Aluminium frame around the phone. This phone has indeed got rid of the 3.5mm Headphone jack, so you will need to use either Type-C Headphones/Adapter or Bluetooth. This phone also comes with Type-C charging, which allows for Fast-Charging.

Now lets talk specs...

That display, It's a 6.28" HD Super AMOLED 1080 x 2280 display. It has a 83.8% Screen to body ratio and has Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The Camera, On the back we have a Dual set up which is a 16MP and a 20MP camera. Capable of giving you magnificent photo's, using Portrait Mode as well as some low light capabilities and a Dual-LED Flash.  The video records at 2160p at 30 or 60fps. 1080p at 30, 60 or 240fps. Then finally 720p at 480fps. The front camera has a 16mp 1080p camera for all those HD Selfies you may be taking!
The phone comes with 128GB/256GB of Storage with 8GB RAM or 64GB Storage and 6GB RAM. The phone does not come with an SD Card slot, but with the option for 256GB or storage who can complain!
Performance wise, it runs Android 8.1 (Oreo) it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Chip set. The CPU performance has an Octa-Core which is 4x 2.8GHz, Kyro 385 Gold and 4x 1.7GHz Kyro 385 Silver. The GPU is an Adreno 630. It then has the option for 6GB of RAM or 8GB of RAM.
The battery is a Non-removable Li-Po 3300 mAh battery. This will more than likely easily see you through the day.
